My welsh sec d who is 16yrs and 15 hands, is being offered to a five star home for a nominal amount.
He has a lovely nature and is a real character, but can be strong and grumpy at times - he's not a novice ride. He needs a kind, confident able rider and handler. He is nappy when hacking on his own, and doesn't like coming in without his stables mates. And has been known to buck when not sure of his rider.
He lacks confidence and in turn is bolshy and strong in the stable. He does have manners, but due to some time out on my part, he's forgotten them and I don't have the confidence nor the time to bring him back into work.
He forms very close attachments with other horses and will need have other horses around him.
When I had more time we did do join up and some natural horsemanship work, which he took to and really enjoyed. He will make someone a really good friend, and does look after his mount when they are confident.
For instance when I felt more confident were were doing 2-3 hour hacks on our own. He is excellent on the roads and with other horses. He was in a riding school for a time before I had him, so this may be where his strong attachment to other equines is from.
