Sheloves to work and help owners achieve goals with emphasis on enjoyment and developing a bond between human and horse.
Charlie takes much inspiration for her work from many trainers and is largely inspired by Monty Roberts and Kelly Marks.
She spends time developing further skills and knowledge by attending demos talks and clinics on a range of subjects by a range of people. Charlie loves all aspects of equestrianism she is especially interested in the psychological side of things and how this impacts on behaviour both under saddle and on the ground. When teaching either ridden, groundwork or working in behavioural issues Charlie likes to look at the bigger picture as this can help over come issues easier.
Not only does Charlie like working with owners of all ages and experience she would also love to work with other professionals to help them understand equine behaviour better.

A Q&A with IH Trainer Charlie Carr
(The Intelligent Horsemanship Magazine)
How long have you been involved with horses and how did you get involved with them?
I have been involved with horses since I was around six or seven. I got my own horse when I was 13 and have had a horse (or two!) ever since. When I left school, I worked as an apprentice in a riding school and gained my teaching qualifications. I then went on to do an equine science degree whilst working at a competition stud.
Why did you decide to qualify as an IH Trainer?
It’s something I had always wanted to do since I was a teenager, but it took a few years for everything to fall into place so I could stop doing the IH courses. One of the big reasons for wanting to qualify was to be able to help people understand their horses better.
What is a typical day for you?
My days are often quite varied and seasonal. I generally split my time between clipping, teaching riding/groundwork and behavioural work. From September to March, much of my time is spent clipping. I still have some clipping in the summer months, but I spend more time teaching various activities.
Most days, I leave home by 7:30 AM I’m start by going to do my horses (my two, plus two lodgers). They left out, so it’s usually quite straightforward. Then I go off to my first visit around 8:30/9.30 AM. I then normally do between 3:00 and 7:00 visits of a mix of activities. I then get back to my horses between 5/7pm, then off home. Sometimes I even get to ride mine!
